The chapter I want to share with you today is called “Resilience is a Muscle,” and believe me, it’s a part of my health journey that digs deep into the heart of discipline.

 

Starting This Health Journey Wasn’t Easy.

I remember looking in the mirror, not recognizing the person staring back at me. Someone who was 100 pounds heavier and shrouded in a cloud of unspoken fears. There was this defining moment when it hit me like a bolt of lightning. Like an undeniable truth that roared above the din of my busy life. Something had to change. I knew right then that my story needed a new direction. A narrative steeped in courage and the resilience to rewrite my destiny.

My days weren’t always painted in bold hues of willpower and motivation. Nope, there were plenty of times when peeling myself from the comfort of my sheets seemed like an insurmountable task. The world could wait, I told myself, as I turned away from my sneakers collecting dust. The salads that didn’t call my name like a cheesy pizza did. Each of these moments presented a choice. Either follow the path of least resistance or engage in a tougher, more rewarding battle.

 

The golden nugget that kept pushing me forward.

It was this realization: every tough choice made was like a rep at the gym for my inner strength. This health journey was never just about shedding pounds or being able to run faster or lift more.
